Ok guys here is the problem, as i might know what it is but i need your guys;s excellent input. I have a 98 Civic EX Automatic, yes i said it AUTO. Iam going ot convert to stick very very shortly. Anways i have AEM Cold Air Intake, DC Sport 4-2-1 Header and 2,25 Exuasht, no high flow cat yet. Its a 2 door and it sits on 17 inch Enkie Showguns currently, which iam looking to change to 15GSRs.

My freind has a DX civic non vtec. Its a 4 door car and all he has is some cheap ass Ebay headers. He also has stock rims and tires. no intake no tuning nothing. He is also an Automatic. When we go off the line and floor it, he will pull. when we roll, he will stay right with me and i wont be able to pull.
Please help as this is very lame. For an Ex losing to a DX or not being able to pull some from it is sad. Please help me guys on ur input. Thank you

your exhasut is too big, at this point in time it's urting you. but you're going to want it when you convert to a manual.

but mainly, the wheels are killing the power. when you switch to 15" inch wheels, go with a 195/50/15 tire. that'll help get the power to ground.

i wish i could help you. i have the same exact setup but a 99. i feel your pain, its the slowest car i've ever driven but i still take dx's and lx's no problem if they are automatic also. if your car has been properly maintained then the only reason you could still lose is those wheels, which normally i would say would make only a marginal difference, but in the case of an auto civic, every hp to the ground counts.

i have the same problem too about 3 months ago. one of my friends drives a 93 vx(i think) with just an short intake and i drive a 98 ex stock. one day we decided to go out and see which car is stronger. i had a lot of confidents that i was gonna be unbeatable but his car beat me twice out of three runs on this back road behind some factory out in the country side. my car wasnt even pulling at all. our cars stayed with each other all 3 runs. all three runs was all about reaction time. whoever launches the best wins. i was like wtf. so i told him that i just got back from a 4000 miles road trip so let me change my oil and will go again. so about a week later(oil changed), we give it another shot. this time, i pulled his car all three runs. this time he was like wtf. he didnt believe that oil change can make a difference. i was surprise too the oil changing part. but yeah, it was my lucky day i guess.
