Ok so I'm shopping around online for a tanabe medaliion exhaust system and I found them for $485 on autohance.com. Crazy low right? Well the also have skunk2 mega power and in diva for just as cheap. So my question is obvious, how legit is this site? Anybody have experience or know of anybody who has?

Yep, my experience is that the name brand stuff is overpriced & lower quality than vibrant/magnaflow/etc. I've bought 1 name-brand (Apex'i) that fit like shit & used painted steel, built 2 exhausts from mandrel tubing, and recently bought 2 no-name kits from the ebay "iloveltacotaco" user. I paid more for the Apex'i than I did for the rest, and more for one mandrel exhaust than I did for the 2 ebay exhausts. Guess which one I recommend now??

For the price of the cheaper kit, you can replace the resonator & muffler with good parts ($110 kit, $85-125 muffler, $50-70 resonator). This also lets you re-align the pipes to your preference. I did have to monkey with the 3" ebay's mid hangers due to having a Skunk2 steel shift lever, but that's about it. What was strange is a thrush resonator (cherry bomb) and the n1-style fart can sounded very nice on my H23A-vtec - and I'm an older person that hates loud Hondas!

The trick is getting the right sized kit. 90% of them are 60mm tubing, which is hard to adapt to. A few have actual 2.5" or 3" OD, which are a breeze to replace the muffler/resonator on & add v-band clamps.

BTW this section is for ACTUAL HANDS-ON REVIEWS, not for questions.

Well I had a tanabe medallion on my first crx which was a stock hf with y8 head (vtec wasn't wired tho) and I loved the way it sounded. That's the reason I've been shopping for that brand, I know it's expensive but I've heard bad things about cheap ebay kits, and I had a spec-d cat back and dc header on my otherwise stock ef sedan and I never liked the way it sounded, too ricy. Like my current setup : no name header/down pipe, test pipe, resonator and manga flow muffler with custom 2.25" in tubing connecting it all on a z6.. It doesn't sound to bad, quiet when low but from 2500-3500 ish it's super crackle and rice then above that sounds ok, but it's also so loud in the cabin. That tanabe system was always super quiet and sounded deep when I "got on it" (remember stock hf lol).

So I'm pretty set on the system I want to buy, I was just really trying to see if anyone had any experience with this website/distributor. But thanks for looking out

VRS tubing kit and whatever muffler and resonator that you like.

Make sure to ask what kind of steel they're using so you know what kind of welding rods to use once it's installed

In my experience, the only way to tame that is to swap in the longest resonator possible and/or add a cat. Beware of the inner diameter of the resonator, many of them are less than 2". Your cabin loudness complaint is probably due to that magnaflow. I like these as an inexpensive alternative. They flow well but are still fairly quiet. These three (if the link works) are OEM dimensions with larger pipe (choose pipe size).
