i recently bought a 1991 civic dx 5speed. i was wondering if it would be a good idea to change the tranny fluid, and what to use in it. the car has 175k miles on it, and i know that sometimes its better to not change the fluid on transmissions if it has possibly gone that long without it. thanks

yes, change your fluid so that you know when the fluid has been changed

Honda MTF if no grinds ever, or GM syncromesh if it has slight grind or whatnot..

Change all of the fluids in the car! Go with Honda MTF, Redline or Pennzoil/GM Synchromesh for the tranny fluid.
I agree with kommon_sense, change all the fluids, and filters too so you know when it was done. Going too long without changing can cause loss of HP and damage to the engine/transmission.
