i have a 92 hatch with a z6. the issue im having is that the car will be a full temp but will take an additional amount of time til i have heat. its like i dont have heat until the thermostat opens. is it supposed to be that way??

Check your antifreeze. It may be low. The girls car was doing this the other night. Topped off the coolant and got heat.
Check the valve coming from the heater core
Is it winter time where you are. That might slow heat up time down.
