I just intsalled a used 100,000 dx mile transmission, fidanza 7.5lb flywheel and xtd stage 3 6 puck clutch and pressure plate on my 90 4dr. When i hook up the clutch cable i have to screw the adjustment knob all the way down to the botom . It feels like its disconecting but its all the what at the botom. Is is possible that my clutch cable just streatched alot. I havent got the car running yet so i cant see if the clutch disconect/catches or if it shifts. What else cold be the problem?

What do you mean by feels disconnected?? like when you push the clutch it goes to the floor with not resistance?

I am going thru the same problems with mine. The clutch has a rubber grommet on the firewall take that off and put a metal washer on it and at the bottom where it goes on the tranny put worm clamp on the rubber deal at the very end. After a few months it will get mushroomed. Also replace the return spring inside the tranny mine broke and so did the bracket the clutch pedal pivots on

Ill try a differnt clutch cable first, if that doesnt work i will use spacers like you described. I still dont understand why there would be so much slack and no more adjustment on a brand new clutch and i also replace the spring thing.

Can you move the arm on the tranny by hand? When i replaced mine it was adjusted almost all the way at the bottom. aslo it would be a good idea to use the washer now because the rubber grommet on the firewall won't last and you will be adjusting your clutch as it gets squished more and more.

That spring would only make the cable not wana come back, it should still have some stiffnes to it when you press the clutch pedal.

Sounds to me like the clutch fork return spring popped off the bearing. There is no way it would strech that far, it would just break.
Agreed on this guy...
cables are know to also wear over long periods of time....ie 10 Years...
