I bought a 91 hatch about a month or two ago. My valve stem seals were starting to go bad so i decided to pull the head off and replace them. When i had the head apart i decided to do my first port and polish, not really port but sanded the cast smooth and polished the exhaust and intake. I also cleaned up the piston tops to get the carbon buildup off. Put it back together and it runs great except smoke when the engine is under a load, doesnt smoke at idle. Did a comp test and got 185 across the board. Does this sound like my rings are going south or valve guides? When valve guides start to go bad do the leak under a load or all the time even when at idle? The engine is a d15b1 with 220,000 on it. Thanks for any help.
