Yeah, who knows what’s wrong with junkyard motors. This yard does have a 30 day return policy though, and realistically I could bring in a battery and compression tester and find out before I pulled/paid.
Here’s what I picked today. Some blanks to replace the two I bought that were the wrong color. I also found a sail panel to replace my cracked piece, and a knee bolster cover to replace the one on my car that had a few holes drilled in it. Also found the firewall harnesses I needed. I already spliced them together, so now my tuck is essentially plug and play. I also grabbed a spare IAT sensor and a dash vent for my RDX.

https://flic.kr/p/2jdLWwEPolishing up the headlights, for the third time. The one on the right is done, the one on the left is not. Both are hazy inside, so not much else I can do short of cracking them open again. Will probably just buy a clean EDM pair and be done with it.
Went to start the car tonight and nada. Well, shit...will be troubleshooting this weekend.
New clutch slave cylinder should be here next week. And word on the street is the MVA is open by appointment only so I’m going to call tomorrow and get the next available Saturday slot. Wish me luck
Okay, she starts now. Really helps if you install the trans ground! Still waiting on parts. Still haven’t made an appointment to get title/tags. Right now I’m just doing little odds and ends until I get my RTA bushings. I moved my O2 sensor from runner 4 to the bung before the collector and it hits the CV boot hard. Logical options are get a new header, have a new bung welded on the header, get a test pipe, or put the sensor back on the runner and use an O2 extension harness. Anybody out there got a used 4-1 you’d like to sell me?
P28 is back in the car and I’m running the Hondata D16Z6 map. Need to hook up the laptop and set base timing. But first I need to buy a timing light.
I’m starting to inventory my Z6 parts to figure out what I need to buy to get that assembled and swapped in. I have a complete long block, FJ rods, Vitara 75.5 slugs, and a Cometic head gasket. I’m looking to add an ATI Super Damper and I still need bearings/thrust washers and the machine work. And I’d love a Canton oil pan.
Thanks man. I’ve got nothing but time lately, so why not be OCD. End goal is to build/buy a harness with OBD1 ECU plugs so I can ditch the jumper all together.
And I finally made an appointment for title/registration for July 22. I might actually get to drive this car before summer is over.
As far as free time goes, I usually do the work as quickly and efficiently as possible these days...and then creep back out into the garage between midnight and 6 am to get all OCD and tidy everything up. Kinda' sucks working like that. But it's the only way I can get stuff done.
EDIT - Mail is moving so slow, dude. It's insanity. I waited a month for a cam that was shipped Priority 3-Day...And have been waiting about two weeks on average for other stuff.
Man, after looking through your pics of the yards and such, I decided that I need to come out west, buy a hatch, fix it enough to drive home and start building from there. I'm tired of buying cars that "just need a little rust removal" to get them looking decent.
I’m actually in Maryland now, I just haven’t figured out how to change my avatar. I never even went to a junkyard when I lived in Arizona since I didn’t need any parts then. It’s tough finding clean body parts out here, but I’m looking about once a month.
I started her up today and the number two runner wasn’t getting hot. So I pulled the plugs and number 2 hasn’t changed color like the others. So I’ll be working on that next lol. Probably something simple. Fingers crossed
