https://flic.kr/p/2nmSdQg Got the trans cleaned up a bit. Not too worried about it since it’ll be coming back out fairly soon.

https://flic.kr/p/2nmKF6Q Mocking up coolant overflow line.

I ordered a few fittings and plugs for my incoming Edelbrock manifold. I also got a few spray cans of Vogue Silver Metallic so I’m going to have a go at painting my fenders and mirrors over Memorial Day. Correct (hopefully) alt belt also ordered. Crank bolt torqued down. Hoping I can get the clutch installed and trans bolted up this weekend some time. Have cars to wash and a lawn to mow, so we’ll see.

https://flic.kr/p/2nmWKL9 Mirrors and door handles off. Mirrors disassembled and cleaned. I got three coats of base color on the left side bits already. There’s a small window tomorrow to get the right side done, then the weather won’t be nice again until Thursday or Friday. I’m trying to spray all my clear coat in one day since the cans only last a day or two once activated.

https://flic.kr/p/2nncRxY Got some color down on the right side bits and the trunk filler. It was 91° with 53% humidity. The first coat flashed a little too quick because I had the pieces out in the sun for a few minutes. I hung everything in the shade then did a light second coat and a nice wet third coat and they look great. Couple little scuffs and nicks that I didn’t bother to fix, and I’ll do the same with the fenders and bumper. It just has to look good from the grandstand, right?

https://flic.kr/p/2nnsBTn Alt belt showed up and it fits like a glove. Dayco 5040295 (4 rib 29.5”)

https://flic.kr/p/2nnm9oh
https://flic.kr/p/2nnm9nL Manifold showed up too. It’s a little rough, but it was only $160. Somebody tried to port match the inlet but it looks like there’s plenty of material left to fix it. I’ll know once I slap a gasket on there. One of the fuel rail studs is missing and the thread is a bit stripped. Should be an easy fix with a tap.
She’s starting to come together now fellas!!

I was more terrified that it was going to fall off the hoist. I had to use the little threaded hole by the block stamp at first. It’s only an M8 bolt, maybe 15mm deep. It’s got some stout gussets but I was doing my best to keep my toes out of the way. Once I got the trans on I switched over to one of the torque mount holes and felt a lot better about it.
I’m excited to get a little dirt on this thing!

https://flic.kr/p/2noiGir Original placement of the flex fuel sensor made it hit the alt. I made bracket 2.0 and now it fits. Still have to figure out hose route from the FPR.

https://flic.kr/p/2nohA8G Starter, starter power, and reverse switch installed. I have a Speed Factory shifter spring but I couldn’t budge the bolt, so that’s on the back burner.

https://flic.kr/p/2nok16E IM and TB mocked up. Previous owner painted the IM and it looked like dookie. I was trying to think of a fast and cheap way to strip it and brake fluid seemed like a great idea. I’ll hit it with a wire wheel to finish it up. For now I just have silver paint all over my hands

https://flic.kr/p/2nok15n TPS is pretty close to the 90° from the fuel filter to the rail. I’ll have to move the filter down a smidge and probably cut all my zip ties to get a little slack under the car.

https://flic.kr/p/2noiGjo The 1/4” 90° will feed the FPR. The 1/8” 90° will be moving under the plenum where it’ll feed a push to connect bulkhead on the firewall for signal to the boost gauge. Every other port will get a plug except for a 1/4” NPT port on the back for the brake booster vacuum source. I want to use -8 AN hose for the brake booster but I have no idea if the booster can be disassembled to add a bulkhead fitting. Might hit the junkyard this week and yank one and try to crack it open. I’m off work until next Monday so I’m hoping to get a lot done.

Decided not to fuck around with porting the IM right now. I don’t want to create any more downtime for myself. I’ll have more time to fart around with shit when it’s time to put the turbo kit on and/or get the trans rebuilt over the winter. Still waiting on battery terminals, the new pump hanger, and some other little things. I bought all new screws for the mirrors since they are apart. Waiting for nicer weather to get some more painting done. Axles can go back in and I can start wiring the engine harness. Need to decide on injectors so I know what connectors I need. Also need new injector seals and o-rings. Still nothing from Cole Mulvey in regards to my Skunk2 manifold. I’m going to ask for a refund and for him to return my part. If that doesn’t happen I don’t know what else to do other than blast him on Facebook and maybe try to get the local cops involved. Never been stiffed like this before

https://flic.kr/p/2nosrgv Axles back in. Forks installed. Will tighten everything when I get the car back on the ground.

https://flic.kr/p/2nosrgq Filter moved down. Gained a little bit of clearance but I’d like some more. I’ll order a 120° fitting and that should help. Started mocking up engine harness connectors as well.

https://flic.kr/p/2nojzcd Need to figure this out.

https://flic.kr/p/2nor7MC Got the majority of the paint off the IM. Poured some more brake fluid on the trouble spot and the drill batteries are charging so I’ll hit it again later tonight or tomorrow.

https://flic.kr/p/2nowApT Got 99.9% of the paint strips. I cut new rail studs from 6 x 1.0 thread rod. Polished up the logo a little bit.

https://flic.kr/p/2notYbF Plugs installed along with IAC and IAT. I won’t be using this IAT but I had already bought it so it’s just an expensive block off plate now.

Did some inventory to figure out what else I need to order. Hoping to get some painting done tomorrow.

https://flic.kr/p/2noY6kq Right side fender cleared. Looks pretty good I think. I cleared over a gnat and a healthy dose of pollen so it’s definitely not perfect.

https://flic.kr/p/2noY6iS Left side fender installed last night. Bit of orange peel. Hoping I can polish it a little smoother. Not super worried about it though. I have 4 or 5 cans of base color left. Should be enough to cover the bumper. I figure I’ll need two more cans of clear for that as well. If I have any leftover, I’m going to clear the headlights on my Fit.

https://flic.kr/p/2np5ByG Started assembling the mirrors. Waiting on an order of new screws from Majestic. Replacing all the rusty shit and have some white EP grease to lube everything up.

https://flic.kr/p/2np6X1g Block vent hose installed. Clutch hose installed. Alternator power cable installed. Racetronix order should be here today and I’ll get the IM on and the brake booster/check valve squared away.

Not sure why but I ordered 88-91 Civic rad hoses like an idiot. New Gates hoses should be here tomorrow. I’m going to replace the janky rad drain plug with a 1/4” NPT brass petcock. I need some M10 bolts and a fresh gasket for the header to finish connecting the exhaust. I can probably get the wheels on and get it off the jack stands by this weekend. After that it’s engine harness and complete the fuel system.

https://flic.kr/p/2npbCDJ Injector seals and o-rings installed, rail bolted up.

https://flic.kr/p/2npgTv6 Rad hoses installed. Need to find a slightly bigger spring clamp for the upper hose.

https://flic.kr/p/2nph6PX Flushed the rad out. No major gunk so that’s a good sign. I plan to run distilled with Water Wetter since the tracks near me don’t allow ethylene glycol. Coolant temps may force me to change that, but putting a petcock on the rad should make flush/fill pretty easy.

Hot AF in the garage today so not much else got done. Heading back out later tonight. PCI side skirts ordered and Moroso finally shipped my battery terminals so hopefully I can get some power to the lights and stuff and make sure everything works as it should.

https://flic.kr/p/2nppZjq Mirrors reassembled. I replaced every screw except the ones that secure the harness connector to the metal frame. They didn’t show any signs of corrosion, and I couldn’t find them on the parts diagram. I used 5th gen Prelude diagram in case anybody is looking to do this to their own mirrors.

https://flic.kr/p/2npvffr Moroso battery terminals showed up.

https://flic.kr/p/2npwxDA Still need to install the main ground and then land battery out on the circuit breaker.

Hot and humid in the garage today. Hoping to get some more stuff done tonight.

Your dedication on these mirrors is unparalleled! She's coming along nicely!
It’s kinda turned into a bit of a restoration as well. Pretty lucky it’s an Arizona car and I have basically zero rust to deal with.

No trans temps for me. It’s a drag car so I’m not too concerned with heat related failure.

https://flic.kr/p/2npBaZe And we have power! Quick walk around and I verified hazards/parking lights, headlights, and taillights. Cutoff switch works as intended. I thought I messed up at first because I wasn’t getting the key in ignition/door open beeping, but then I remembered that I deleted the door triggers.

IM back off so I can figure out my brake booster vacuum line and check valve.

https://flic.kr/p/2npXn8k Engine harness currently routed through heater core hole. I figured this would be the easiest/fastest way through. Could be a lot cleaner if I made a new hole but either way I still need a boot/grommet.
I’m short a few wires, going to make another order this week. Just trying to figure out what I still need. I might order an ECU mount from Checkerd Sports and just bolt the ECU horizontal right to the upper passenger foot well.
Also figuring out where to splice my sensor grounds and ignition leads. I can use reducer barrel crimps and join everything on the main trunk so when I bring them to the ECU header I only have two leads each instead of multiples. No real plan for this, just winging it.
Vacation week is over but I got quite a bit accomplished.
