heres the deal, i have a "catch can" between the block and intake. now this past weekend i've noticed about an inch of oil/water sludge in the can. i had hoped that it was from the cold temps we have had from the ice-storm, since the oil on the dipstick was "clean", the oil showed no trace of water and the radiator cap was clean also.
just checked the catch can again and its back to about an inch of sludge. and all of the other areas are still clean. i know that i have some worn rings, that's why i installed the catch can, but do you think i've blown the head gasket?

Is there white smoke behind your car? If there is no oil in the coolant and your not loosing coolant i dont think it would be a head gasket.

what i always did was before i started the car i would take off the radiator cap off and then start the car and if smoke doesnt start coming out then you dont have a blown head gasket

no loss of coolant. hard to tell if it's smoking from radiator since it's 23 deg out.
