i need to pull an exhaust stud off my b7 to put on my z6, what's the best way to pull that f'er out w/o destroying the threads?

i'm thinking two methods:

1. put two nuts on the stud, back the lower nut off and it should break the stud loose.

2. heat the stud or aluminum with a torch, grab it with some vice grips, remove violently.

3. go to honda, buy a new stud... :TD:

any tips, or do i already have this figured out?

Funny, I need to do the exact same thing! I thought of either #1, or using a special tool for the job.
Apparently such a thing exhists, I just don't know how it work yet.
But #1 should get you there.

the z6 i bought had an aftermarket header on it and a couple of missing/loose studs, and the b7 i had in my car had all of its studs. i just wanted to remove the old studs without damaging the threads, which i did very easily by doubling up the nuts, and backing off the lower nut. no problem, besides, my local honda dealer didn't have any in stock and couldn't have any in till the middle of next week. thanks fellas!
