Hi everybody,

I recently got a 1997 black civic coupe with D16y7 engine. Before this a had a 1995 del sol with a B16a2.
I would like to give my new civic a bit more power. I already changed:

Invidia G200 cat-back system
MSD sparkplug wires
Denso iridium spark pluges
K&N replace filter

does anyone has some good advise about how to get the best performance from the D16y7? without ading a turbo or supercharger.

this is the wrong place for this topic...should move to engine building or specifically the N/A section.

whats your goals? the same power as your del sol?

the wires and spark plugs are somewhat a waste of money unless you had to do a tune up...but intake and header oh course then some headwork. whats ur budget????

My goal is maximum street legal performance with an N/A engine. Next step is a Y8 of Z6 intake mani.
i read that a automatic intake mani is the best?
Step 3 is fiting a blue printed crankshaft , better crankshaft, tips anyone?

After that i think it will be best to give her some extra juice with a upgraded fuel pump.

after this a friend , a specialist in Honda ECU and getting the best performance, from stock ECU's will chiptune the ecu.

u will be hard pressed to find a better crank than what honda gave you

trust me they have seen over 600whp and they are NOT the weak link :)

but if u get something custom and bore it, that might be cool

dude screw all that OE stuff, go with a skunk2 mani or even edelbrock if you plan to spray and if you ask me, put a big cam, build and port a Y8 head and tune it. BESt Mini me for your money.

you wont make any power with that Y7 head and low compression so bolt on are like freeing up power that inst there

if you feel capable open up open up the motor and put some i think P29? acuras 86-89 doch pistons and you will have compression thru the ROOF!

go with all the EX counter parts and throw some acura goodies on the suspension and you'll be sitting pretty

At the "read this before starting any treads about D series enige" i read that a D16z6 intake mani is de best performance money can buy.

I have a dc 4-2-1 exhaust header, now runnig with stock air filter housing and a K&N airfilter.

Planning to stay with the stock ecu and stock injectors. And on the Z6 intake many a bored tb (60mm?)

With a anti reversion setup on the intake manifold. Clean up the header port work. Get rid of the exhaust and go for a nice breathing 2 1/4. Fuel pump isn't needed. The juice you will get will slow you down. Go for a real tune. Don't get screwed. Read. Learn. And make an educated choice. From you post I can see that your not seasoned so while you are learning try not to spend to much on stuff you don't need.. get a cheap fuel pressure gauge to make sure you are sustaining pressure (my car felt lean and when I put on a gauge I found my fpr was bad and only putting out 25psi). Other than that the fuel pump will over do the stock reg and bump the psi. Making it run to fat (stock fuel pressure reg with a bigger pump). A wideband wouldn't be a bad idea for the tuning process and monitoring. A nice 50-75shot for an easy way to get down with a faster car. And then a regrind cam. Shorter geared tranny and a flywheel just the right weight. Maybe 15lbs total or 12lb flywheel.

Simple is best. Simple makes power. Simple is proven time and time again.

op makes me lol.

what are you going to do that will require the pump upgrade? with stock injectors? and you cant tune the stock y7 ecu... you need to do a lot of research and reading as it seems you are in the mindset of throwing parts at the car and hoping they work.

i'm not just buying bolt on parts too see what they do. The main reason for me of being a member of this forum was to find out what the best combination of parts will be. i believe in less is more set-up
the breathing out part is ok now, invidia g200 catback and dc 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, now i'm searching for the best breathing in combination en parts.

Skunk2, end so on bolt parts ar pretty expensive en do not always get a better performance that stock honda swap parts.
