Hi I am building a dd d16z6 turbo.
My power goal is around 400 hp. I am going to have around 15-20 psi of boost.
I think about 8,5:1 and 9,0:1. I think 9:1 sounds really high when oem is 9,2:1!
go with 9:1 or 8,5:1 on 93 gas and cp pistons?
I know that the tune is really important..

If you are going to be using 93 octane and have a good tuner, then go with at least 10-1, even 10.5-1 would be simple for a good tuner to tune for you. More low end power and a quicker spool are the advantages of a higher compression turbo build.

when I was the first guy to build a 10:1 turbo motor. All the tuners in the country scoffed at me and the very idea. 1,50,000 Kms latter the engine is still running and pulling strong.
Its all to do with the tune and the turbo you run. And the inter-cooler and the tune. Its no one thing its how the complete package is put together and the attention to little details.
