I have a feeling there's more to the fuel injection harness, considering the carburetor harness wouldn't have fuel injection wiring..

yes thats my thoughts as well, but the seller is the one saying they are the same, thats why im trying to double check before i go a head with it, im not worried about the rear of the car as that loom is intact, so i dont have to run some wiring to the fuel pump etc, im hoping it will just plug in if the dash loom is actually the same.
My digital copy of the service manual does not show the carb harnesses unfortunately, but from threads I've read in the past they are not the same, though with enough peices from both harnesses, lots of patience and time, were made to work.

from reading did the US not get carby EGs?

Most threads ive found are usually about EFs

Nope.

I actually had and kept a 92-95 carb manifold and vacuum advance distributor setup that showed up on a D16 complete engine that we ordered from some japanese engine importer.

Swapped the FI equipment over to the new longblock, kept the carb stuff, but never used it for almost 10 years so tossed it lol.
They're different, you'll need to add the fuel pump wiring back into it at a minimum. You'll need to confirm the body style matches too otherwise the lengths of harness runs will be off and connectors will be missing or different.

I'm not 100% sure but i believe the EG changed connector styles between early carb models (which looked similar to the EF with that clear plastic connector) and later in production (they went to a light grey style connector) and they're not compatible. Just an observation from memory having hung around honda wrecking yards and pillaging parts for my various EF builds.

Adding EFI wiring back in isn't a big deal though if the body style and connector styles are the same.

yes now that you've said it, it doesnt trigger a memory of there being different plug types, I was more worried about the connectors being similar to EFs than anything, but i was prepared to add wires to make the plugs match aslong as the looms were similar enough.

Update: I decided id take the chance on the loom as its the first option ive had on one in years and..... the guy stopped answering my messages. I'm assuming he either sold it or didnt want to ship it.
so back to square one.

What's the problem you're having with your harness? It's not repairable?

I decided in my infinite wisdom that i would remove wires from the loom and do a wire tuck and quite possibly switch the pins in some of the plugs around (not sure if i actually did or not)

It started off great, then i couldnt stand the sight of the car, by the time id come back to it i had no idea what id done.

in short:
finally having got the engine back in, repainting bay, removing ac, removing ps, the front end swapped, guards custom made, auto to manual, redoing fuel lines (as id decided to do a fuel line tuck, then reverting back to stock because id cut my ones, of which i had to find some and ended up using sedan ones)

after 5 years of messing around with it, I decided that i never wanted to chase wire gremlins from me messing with the loom, so i looked for another loom. found one (of which id have to travel for 6hrs return to remove it myself) but the guy said id have to wait a week etc so whilst waiting i removed the loom from my car (cutting and just ripping it out) the guy ended up cancelling..

Honestly had i not had the car now for 6-7 years I would happy scrap it, i also cant bring myself to sell it since i wouldnt get much for it esp in the state its in (needing loom etc)

So is this a right hand or left hand drive? If I did happen to have a cabin harness, or come across one, where would it be shipping to?

I'll probably be going to a local junkyard in the next month, there's usually 3-4 EGs there, what all do you need?
I'll make some calls, but not something I'll likely come across next weekend when I go out for Easter Sunday special.

RHD, New Zealand
RHD and a coupe? Bugger. Is it the front cabin loom (under dash/across the bulkhead) or the rear cabin loom?

Even the sedan harness works, with a little patience and chasing the passenger mirror ground around for 5 months
