Anyone ever make a quiet bumper dump exhaust?

So after finally getting the correct 12 degrees of timing on my y7+baby cam, my wife hit some rocks on a canyon run, 2 days after it was a ripper. Exhaust is toast.

Im fixing it by finally starting my turbo install. Turbo is a 2.5 id v band discharge so im gonna make a driver side exit with an angled turndown through the bumper.

First off i loved my tone. I hate super loud. I was running 2.25 inch pipe, cat delete, a big resonator and a magnaflow. Sounded amazing in the lacking bass ricey way I like, and was pleasant even under load on the freeway. I spent 3 years perfecting it.

I know that tone is forever gone, but I dont want cherry bomb bass or straight piped insanity. Does anyone have experience with compact mufflers that i could weld in the side exit exhaust? Id love to not use an 8 inch 2.5 diameter cherry bomb, but worry the switch to larger pipe alone is gonna kill my shrill ricer sound no matter what.

The car will get used on the highway, and near daily around town. Quiet is good, tone or no tone. Im gonna have to make my self happy with turbo sounds now.

Burns Stainless makes some really nice canisters with relatively small footprints. They aren’t cheap though. I don’t see any reason you couldn’t squeeze one in the exhaust stream somewhere, depending on how you have your IC pipes routed and whether you’re running a traction bar, power steering, AC, etc.
I use thrush mufflers where sound reduction is needed and there isn't enough of a run for a resonator and muffler with enough pipe in between anything, like Subaru powered vanagons and the turbo Porsche swaps into beetles. The note largely depends on cam profile and induction, being a packed muffler they get louder over time and may need replacing every few years depending on climate and mileage.
No ac, manual steering rack swapped so theres room, but arent thrush like turbo style? Thatd be awesome if it can fit sound wise, might be a pain working on it wise and packaging wise.

Has anyone run just like an 16-18 inch resonator with no muffler on here? I could 90 down, flex joint, 90 over, then have some room horizontally.

Or is that just gonna be the same as a glasspack?
Thrush makes small footprint turbo mufflers, I have one on my car now, pretty tinny with n/a tho
Im so sad ill never hear my car the way it was again. I had driven it like 25 miles on the 260 cam....i was in love all over again
way back before cameras existed like 2001, I did a bumper side exit with a removable baffle on a turbo cavalier ...ahh the bad old days..
used a 2200 head on a 2.2 bottom ,had like 7:1 compression ..with a small h1c it was ok but then realized it was lame .
wups sorry to gay up the thread..

Nah cavis can be cool. My buddy got an award for being the fastest 4 cylinder j body in the region, like i think it was region 7 of jbody.org. It was the late 80s early 90s body style and he found lots of sbc parts worked. He said the engine was basically 1 bank of a 305. He ran a homemade COP setup, a header, an intake tube for an eclipse and a zex 75 shot.

He ran high 13s at pacific and street raced it in kent from 99 til 2002. It was a tidy little car too.

neat..

friend and I put a sunbird together with the old style 3.8 basically a buick T-type engine with forged pistons had an hx35 on the crossover pipe, manually shifted 4t65e ,ran low 12s on bfg radials. had a crazy welf fuel setup modded intake with 12 32lbhr injectors run on megasquirt.

So back to hondas. If i am looking at compact mufflers do anybof you guys have experience using them?

Im assuming its gonna be loud no matter what but am looking at the vibrant ultra quiet resonator and then finishing it with a unit I found online that looks like a compact race bullet style thing with a 45 degree tip. Search beyea 2.5 inch header muffler to see it, im not sure if im supposed to post links. Its 2.5 into a 6 inch body with a 3 inch tip.

How much clearance do I need for things, and should I be looking into blankets and wraps?
you can post links, if its something that shouldnt be here, Im sure someone will take care of it ;)

Beyea 2.5-3" header muffler as tip

vibrant ultra quiet resonator 2.5" 9.75" long case, 4.75" wide x 6.5 tall oval, 13.75" overall length

plan would be turbo to vband 90, flexpipe, 90 off flexpipe, short pipe, resonator, pipe, header muffler

just worried that oil cooler plumbing and intercooler piping will be complicated by this, and how close is too close. I have some gold reflective tape and am not entirely opposed to header wrapping the exhaust.
Wrap would help keep slow moving iats down, about 1.5" clearance between things should allow enough movement to keep things from touching under power.
