Ive got a weird problem going on in my house. In my living room there is a set of 2 light switches. Normally one switch controls one outlet and the other switch controls the porch light and thats it. But now that has randomly changed. The switch that controls the outlet still works fine. The switch that controls the porch light now controls the kitchen lights and the whole living room circuit. The kitchen and living room are on 2 different circuits but it is somehow controlling them both. Maybe they are sharing a ground? Im not sure im a novice at electricity. Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like you got one side of the panel with no power which would give this symtom do you know what type of breakers are in the sub panel? or fuses for that matter the way those panels werk is that 220 total volts are cominto it and splitting between the two sides so its feed 120v to half the box and 120v to the other when the main breaker or fuse is bad it can cause this to happen since they are all sharring the same common throught the house so check the main breaker or fuse that should be your problem another way to test this is to use a volt meter and see what the light socket is putting out voltage wise and troublshoot from there
