i tried installing my autometer air/fuel gauge today and it turns on but doesnt work. i wired the black wire to ground, red to a fuse, and purple wire to the o2 sensor signal wire (white according to haynes manual). the gauge turns on but just has a green light on rich, even at idle it stays at rich and doesnt move. am i suppose to wire the purple to a different wire?? i have a 95 civic ex.

do u kno the exact location on the ecu that the wire should be in? my haynes says that it should white wire on D14 of the ecu but there isnt a wire in D14 and the diagram they showed me was from a 93 civic ex/dx, but my car is a 95ex(if it matters). anyone know which location of the ecu and color wire???

I hooked mine up to the white wire on the side of the connector(that hooks to the O2 sensor) away from the O2 sensor.Try it there, you may have better luck.Have you revved it up to see if it would bounce? When mine is idling it just sets still or no lights will show, until I rev it up.

thats wat i did was wire it up to the white wire, the only thing that lights up is the green light(rich) and when i rev it, lights still dont move. just stays lit green.

Did you warm the car up? If it's cold it's in open loop, making the car run rich until it warms up. It will be green until the car is warm. After it's warm it will bounce around like the piece of crap that it is.

I would agree with noahk, mine did exactly like that until the motor was fully warmed up. For some odd reason my meter did not move until I was actually in motion, revving the gas did not make a difference.

It should also bounce when you're cruising on the freeway. I've actually dynoed the car while watch the air/fuel with the dyno's wideband and compared it to the autometer unit. And the autometer was no where close to what the wideband was reading. In my opinion it's a piece of crap.

Just hook it up directly to the O2 sensor wire signal.. Splice the wire and join the purple wire to it..

Also the most important thing, is that you ground the gauge directly to the battery terminal... Otherwise it would read unaccurate.

And FYI, The O2 sensor doesnt produce a signal until it reaches an apropiate temp.. BTW? Is it a 4 wire or 2 wire O2 sensor??

The 4 wire sensors, have a built it heater, so it warms up faster..
