im actually a welder myself. lincoln is miller are your best welding suppliers, with miller being the best. If you are just wanting a small hobby use the lincolnd and miller both have small mig (wire) welders that anybody can use with a little common sense. both these are perfect for exaust and small and medium duty task. These do not require a gas, you can buy flux coated wire and not have to use gas, granite the welds do hold better and look a hell of alot better with gas but most people isnt goin to see your exaust anyways. And these small outfits are around that price range, and inside the door of the welder they have a chart on it showing thickness of stell and what amperage you should use and what wire speed. here is there sites to help you get started. http://www.millerwelds.com/ http://www.lincolnelectric.com/
