Hey all,
I recently bought a Civic Wagon RT4WD (with a d16a6).

It had a very large oil leak coming from between the engine and transmission. Figuring it was a rear main seal leak, i dropped the tranny and took out the main seal. The crankshaft had a fairly substantial groove worn into it (I could easily feel it with my finger nail) so i decided to install one of those crankshaft repair sleeves.

I drove it on, installed a new main seal and was going to put the flywheel back on when I found out it wouldn't go back on. The sleeve increases the diameter enough to make it so the flywheel no longer fits.


The way I see it, I have a couple options:

1. Attempt to remove the crankshaft sleeve at the risk of damaging the crankshaft further, and install the new seal without any sleeve. (I hear that if you leave the seal farther out on the shaft, it works sometimes.)

2. Find a machine shop that will bore out the flywheel so it'll fit the crankshaft with the sleeve on it.


Am I missing anything? The sleeve is nearly touching the engine block, so I can't drive it on any more. I'm pretty pissed at o'reillys for selling me a $45 sleeve that doesn't work.

Let me know what you guys think I should do. I'm leaning towards option 1 right now so that I can box the sleeve back up and throw it at o'reilly's in a fit of rage.
