I've not heard of any problems with our stock belt tensioner?

True, but I looked at the Honda design vs my crappy Ford Escort and it had a built in adjustable pulley design within the water pump. Very ingenious if you ask me... Basically it slid left to right on a bearing using a tough spring to hold it in place. But if the OEM works fine, why bother? Had problems with jumping time in the past?

i personally havent, but i know people who have, and every time i see a car with the timing cover off, i wiggle the front side of the belt, and i have yet to see one that is as tight as they are stock. i mean all it does is push the belt in right below the cam gear to take the little bit of play out of the belt. it would just be an assurance feature if i designed one. i would definatly not pay over 200 bucks for one.

actually, the tensioner on our honda takes slack out of the non tension side. The spring is there to do jsut that. Tension is applies to the belt by turning the motor over by hand and tightening the belt, then locking the tensioner in place

i see no use for an adjustable one..

I just switched to a D15 Timining belt from a HF CRX. Also you want the timing belt to be able to move some, too many people make them too tight, its nice to have a lil give. REMEMBER its only rubber...

design is under way. i have the basic framing of the thing done. i need to grab a power steering bracket from my house this weekend and take the measurements on the bolt holes. then it'll be down to finding what style pully i plan to use.
