Mine is still inside the shop, so no pics for me yet lol! But I love the Aerocatches. I have them on my car. When I went with the Scirocco radiator tuck the hood latch was dinking the radiator, so I made the decision to go with them as well! Looked at several different types and decided that if they were good enough for a large majority of track cars then they'd likely work well enough for me. A little finicky sometimes (because a Civic hood has very thin metal), but they work great. Can't wait to see it once you have it all back together!

I know someone that's got a nice buzz right about now 😜
Tried not to, respirator on and focusing on the paint job, i felt fine... but walking back to the house and taking my first few gulps of fresh air, the world began to turn slightly to the left.... lol, all those VOCs

The world fixed itself after a few mins :)

Watch, im going to go back to inspect my work tomorrow, and even though i was feeling proper and professional during the paint session, my high self probably snuck one of these in one of the panels somewhere knowing i wouldnt be of right mind till the next day:

I tore down the plastic walls, and tried to clean up the workspace a bit.

I pointed the worklight at the side of the car to get a better pic of the paint, this paint really doesnt like to show its true face on camera all that well haha. I also tried a few filters and brightness settings, but its hard to get all the glare out:

Some more progress. I wanted to work on it last night, but i fell asleep instead.

Put on the following:
  • Mirrors
  • Door handles
  • New outer rubber door to shell seals
  • Lower window trim (freshly painted, new clips)
  • New door pillar trim pieces
  • Door bumpers/trim? (Not sure what the correct name is)
  • Tail lights
  • New hatch H emblem
  • Sunroof plug siliconed, sealing washered and bolted down

Next steps are:
  1. Clean shop, its a fucking mess
  2. Start engine reassembly
If i have time tomorrow, ill stop by harbor freight and get a new 10x10 pop up tent to have on standby for paint fortress 2.0 when it comes time to paint front fenders, bumpers, gas cap lid, a small strip of metal on the hatch glass and the new hood.

Ideally i could have the engine reassembled next week, but that depends on how far i get with fixing the crank snout. That is step 1 of engine reassembly, but i need to organize my shit a bit better. The shed is a freaking mess, makes my head hurt.

More to come!

Oh yeah, one other reveal! I've settled for how im going to rebrand the tailgate with the "Civic SI" lettering.

Im going with 10th gen flat black CIVIC solid plastic letters, like this:

And an SI ekg set of lettering like this, but also solid black:

And putting them in the OE spots on the tailgate here:

Should be interesting!

Got the shop clean, felt so much better.... took almost 4 hours!

Also did some other things (been dying to mock this up since i got it):

This cage also comes with all the needed hardware and underside clamping plates to accompany:

The door bars are the only thing that isn't easy to plug and play. They come in straight sections to cut, notch and weld in:

Ready to start bolting this guy in! I'll probably put some silicone or urethane on the bottom sides of the feet around the bolt holes, so that water can't get in and go to town rusting all the exposed metal after drilling.

Got the crank, key stock and the dremel ready to start the keyway repair:

Dude, just... dude.
I think, you might be one of my heros. Impatiently waiting to see this thing rip around a track, and damnit, it better be a 25 min video!
Proud to have played my small role in something I believe is going to be great.
Couldn't have comfortably got this far without you man! You saved my neck by providing this crank, I can't thank you enough!

Working as quickly as I can towards the first weekend of October!

Hyperfest weekend should be amazing, and yes I'll definitely throw a go-pro in the car for the track day.... I hope to document all I can that weekend.
