I'm currently building my S40 Si trans with ZC 3rd and 4th gear (and maybe a 5th gear from a CRX SI, don't know yet), I've heard about an issue with the 3rd/4th slider of the S40 trans and the S20 one being better, has anyone done it ? I have a spare d15b7 trans, what else do I need to swap to the S40 one other than the 3rd/4th gear slider ?

not possible without welding the shifter forks.

s40 fork is 7.2mm thick, 88-95 = 6.5mm

Anything else I should know or do to make my trans "better" before I close it ? All the synchros are good, so no point touching that.

deburring the sliders and hubs, stake in the CSB. If wear on the 3-4 shift fork, replace it along with the slider and hub for under $100.
