Finally took the plunge to build a quadcopter (so leave the drone BS out of this thread please. Its a quad not a "drone")

This is a build I started last night and will hopefully be finished by saturday.

Its a Tarot 650 Iron Man frame.

THis is right after installing the arms, and the legs

After mounting the 2 arms for camera mount/gimbel, and added the feet

Loosely installed the motor plates. Orange is going to be the front

Thats what I got done last night. Took about a hour to do it and with the lack of instruction it was overall pretty straight forward.

Tonight I hope to level up my mounting plates, mount my motors, install my ESCs, Flight controller, GPS, OSD, VTX, and camera

How heavy of a camera can you mount on it? something twice the weight of a go pro, or is that too much?
There is no really straight answer. I may be able to lift say a DSLR, but my flight time will be reduced. Heck if I was to drop the video TX, OSD(on screen display) I might be able to. My all up weight is goin to be under 2000grams hopefully. The lighter it is the more flight time I get.

If wanting to do heavier lifting a hex or an octo will be better, maybe a 1000mm might do you good but more motors, more lift
I understand now, my DSLR weighs close to 5-6 lbs depending on the lens, I was actually thinking about a mirrorless. They're dirt cheap now and some are super light.

I do want to get either a drone or a helicopter to do aerial crowd shots, I just got a contract with the city to shoot some of their events. Thankfully they're gonna cover the gear cost(up to $3,500) all the permits and insurance in case something goes wrong.
