I recently swapped my tranny w/ a stock replacement - same model - in order to repiar first one. At that time I put in an ACT Clutch Kit and an ACT Flywheel.

98 civic ex d16y8

The prob: Since then, my 2nd gear likes to pop out at low rpms when letting off the gas or kinda gettin' on the gas and then right off. It also is hard to get into gear on occasion w/ the not so often grind as well. When disengaging/letting off the clutch just after I have shifted into gear, the shifter jolts quite strong and quick in both 1st and 2nd gear. Cruzin slowly in 2nd just kinda on and off the gas real gentle.....forget about it! Impossible.

Master cylinder has a slight leak - being replaced.
Lines look good.
Enough fluid.
Linkage looks good - nothing blocking the normal operation.
Stock shifter in now - ran for two years on initial tranny w/ short shifter no prob. Now...since different tranny/clutch/flywheel install...tried both, neither show a difference.

Tranny gurus please help!!!!

maybe a bad or bent shifter fork from 1-2???
Dumb question as I am not the tranny god.
Isn't there only one shifter fork? Doesn't that only help to engage and disengage the clutch dics/pressure plate? Luckily I have several laying around. hehehe

Please explain why this might be it.

i have the same problem, it's because the needle bearing on the countershaft walked out of the case, there should be a thread here on it somewhere.
correct you are sir.

sticking out (rub marks from ring gear!)

tapped back in

staked to prevent it from happening again!

If you tranny has been popping out, and you've been trying to hold it into gear, plan on replacing the 1-2 shifter fork due to forced wear. First time I had a tranny do this to me, I wiped out a BRAND NEW 1-2 fork in 20 miles. It was a customers tranny and I ended up having to buy it back.

Now my close ratio Mid-Ohio tranny :)

Thanks guys. I'll address this. We'll see what happens. Luckily I have a fresh rebuild to just swap in.
