after getting great advice year i now need this type of headgasket for me
my build. Where do people purchase these as are unavailable in my country?

Telling us where your country is might help just a bit.

Best chance off the shelf is Cometic

Cometic Gasket, Inc.

Other option is hand made from copper sheet.

He does not actually say why he needs a thick gasket. It might be because the pistons are protruding about a mm out of the bores.

i just felt that since i am putting a y8 head on a6 bottom end that a thicker headgasket would just give me that extra bit of insurance as i wont be building the bottom end for quite a while.

im hoping to keep c/r circa 9.5 : 1 rather than 10.3: 1

stick to the 10:3:1, use a 3 layer if you have P2V clearance.

no matter what HG u use, if installed properly,
should last the rest of the life of the engine.

Use of a thicker gasket is a poor way to control compression. Use of lower compression piston dome is the correct way.
