hi all, just aquired a new toy with the d16a6 ( rover 216 gti) and im looking to bag myself a reasonably cheap turbo setup.
i have a good basic idea of where im going with my project, i dont want crazy high bhp like most people as my car will be used daily.
i hope to get around or slightly above 200bhp, ill be using a nissan t25 from the pulsar and a cast manifold also i have a decent enough intercooler lying around so i will probably use this.

my questions are:

is it worth swapping to a z6 setup, considering i only want small bhp figures?

what kind of fueling setup can i use to support my build, again it only needs to get me 200bhp and im happy. ( was thinking 5th injector? )

will i really need to go the vitara/tt/cometic route as im sure to get 200bhp i wont need that much boost?????

this is all being done on a budget so please bear that in mind..

1. no

2. 450 cc injectors from a dsm

3. no

Good luck. Do a lot of research before you start buying parts.

2bigdirtyturbo>We share the same engines and the same goal:)...my is 90 civic hb D16Z2 (same as D16A6)....here is what I got so far (build starts in spring) :

KKK K03 turbine (from Audi A4 1.8T or VW Passat 1.8T)
Civic HF manifold for turbo
450 ccm DSM black top injectors
NAPA seal kit for injectors
Walbro 255 l/h pump
e-bay intercooler (approx. 80 x 25 cm)
2 rewriteable chips and a chip interface
Ostrich emulator
B&M fuel pressure regulator
NGK spark plugs "7" - for turbo applications
e-bay turbo timer
3 gauges : oil press, oil temp & boost
DSM blow-off
XTD clutch (still in doubt what to go with, Stage 2 or Stage 3)

etc... hope that helps

P.S. I'm on a tight budget too, and bare in mind that I am in Croatia, Europe, so I must pay taxes and shipping to from USA to here....that sucks...good luck

you dont need to go aftermarket to get mls gasker. 92-00 oem HG will work. the 88-91 is a "paper" gasket. and arps are more or less a why not? while your in there its only another 100 bucks.
Exactly

If you want boost, then ARP's and a new OEM HG will help the motor last longer. I had ARP's installed before my turbo. What happens is the OEM bolts won't hold the extra cylinder pressure for long, the head will lift, and you'll have white exhaust smoke from coolant leaking into the cylinders.

cheers for all the answers, arp's and a metal gasket shall be my starting point then..
cant see the gaskets being that cheap in the uk..more like £75.($150)
is there not a thicker one available for the d-series?
as the head is off and being re-furbed im considering sourcing a z6 head, saves hassle in the future i suppose ( is there a big diffrence when boosted?
would 5th injector not be suitable? im guessing it'll take some modding to fit the dsm's?
is turboedit easy to get hold of and what kind of price is it? also how will i get it tuned as i cant recall ever hearing of it over in the uk.

216 gti's and 416's are readily available over here, they are a bargain too!!
basicly a mix of civic parts but all in all a good car. mine only cost me £300 ready to run and its in amazing condition for a 15yr old car..

can bosch injectors be used? i can get ones off a sierra/escort cosworth easily and relitively cheap. if not i think i should be able to get some dsm's off a evo. any specific ones i should look for as in year and model??
am i going to need a new fpr to run these?

my list: (main parts)
log/cast manifold
unknown but ample intercooler
dsm's with resistor mods/ 5th injector
ARP's with new gasket oem or aftermarket im not sure yet
t25 off a rover/nissan or t3 if i cant get a t25 flanged manifold
bov

i know ill need new pipework, oil/water feeds, gauges, something to stop the ecu reading boost etc etc
but what clutch do people use most?
