im trying to swap my usdm 1.7L non v-tec with a jdm 1.7L v-tec but im having ppl telling me it the wrong motor and a bunch of stuff also, if anyone have any advise please let me know im trying to get my baby running again.Thanks alot in advance.

they are telling you its the wrong motor because it is.

your lx/dx ecu has no clue how to operate vtec.


In order to make vtec work, you will need to add vtec wiring, swap the ecu, and take it to a dealership to set the immobilizer


Dont buy jdm d17's either. THey have been sitting forever, and the D17 is already kinda made of glass.


Best to find a junkyard motor, pull the oil pan off and check the bearings, and go from there.

If its an auto trans ive heard the dx/lx trans can't be run by the ex auto ecu, different gearing so it throws codes. But if its a manual you can swap in the motor, wiring and ecu, deal with the immobilizer and get it on the road, but your money probably better spent pulling the a1 out sending it in for a rebuild, include valve guides on the exhaust side and balancing with a new damper and flex plate/flywheel for best results.
