Hello everyone.

I have for 2 years now a d16y8 with eagle rods,wiseco pistons,supertech block guard,650rc injectors,walbro fuel pump,gt2860r .64 a/r, cast mani,stock intake mani,60mm Apexi N1 exhaust...etc etc etc

I made 330hp at 22psi.

Thing is,that i dont want to go to a larger turbocharger than this one,so i want to try and find any hidden hp on the car...lol
So im thinking about running a 2.4 bisimoto turbo cam with the springs and retainers and a 3" exhaust system and probably rev it a little more that 7350rpm!

Is it worth it? Any noticeable difference?
I mean i know that is going to gain a lot of power all over the power band but i want an estimate of around how much!!!

Please help me to decide what to do!!!

yes but youll have to retune to see any real difference. just throwing it in will mess with your existing tune. no one can tell you exactly how much power this will make. what cam are you running now?

Im running stock cam and valvetrain.Of course i will retune i know that!!! I was thinking maybe run aem water meth kit too just to be safe and up the boost a little bit.

As you said nobody knows how much hp i will gain, but i just asking for predictions!!!

30hp? 50hp? somethinkg like that!

GT2860 @ 22psi making 330hp. I dont have the compressor map right in front of me, but that sounds pretty maxed out to me. Especially with the t25 .64 turbine housing. Is that 330 hp to the crank or wheel? Not sure if I would expect any top end gains from a cam if the turbo is maxed out.

Do you have a dyno graph, btw? I bet that thing has a wide powerband :)

For those that are going to order bisimoto cams for SOHC VTEC engines be advised that they have a 6-7 weeks backorder. They ran out of Billet units and they're waiting to receive their shipments.

Just a heads up.

and to answer the question... on the latest test of different cams for sohc engines the Bisimoto cams just destroyed the competition... I think the closest competitor came only as close to 16whp difference in the same engine with same setup, same turbo, same PSI... just a change of cam and a re tune

there were no delta cams or colt cams in that test unfortunately...
We are hard to get ahold of....... and what if a "budget" camshaft matched the performance of the high $ ones ? we might have not been invited to the party for a reason ?

my .02 worth ..... wonder if I can get a chicken sandwich for $.98 ?

Djsports:

That sounds like a cool setup you have. Any dynos? Ever considered going to a larger exhaust housing? I have access to a billet gt2871 comp wheel here that I want to remachine my compressor cover to fit. I will try to weigh it when I get a chance and compare it to stock.

Stock gt2860 cast wheel was 20% heavier than a billet unit. The billet unit flowed even more air with extended tips and less material around the nut to allow more air in.

You could do things like cam/porting/intake manifold. In general these usually move the powerband up higher but it depends what you are looking for. You would be able to make more power with less boost=cooler temperatures.

Same way it was in the Autosound business!!

Crystal, Kove and JL Threatened to back out of the test if Mobile Audio Magazine let us enter the competition with our subwoofer. All those reviews are so biased it's ridiculous!!

while i agree with what u are saying, i have another view that was blessed upon me i will share

recently Hyundai made the genesis coupe. v6, 300whp.

car and driver wanted to put it up against the V6 mustang in a test.

the mustang, clearly should be the superior car. its more expensive, its got more pedigree, and ford has had a LONG time to get it right.

the problem with a test like this is that the Hyundai can not lose! its SUPPOSED to lose. so no matter what it comes out with a clean record. on the other hand, the mustang SHOULD win, hands down. so its impossible for the mustang to come out looking good unless its more favored, but even if thats the case, it doesnt grab anyones attention because it was predicted.

its like betting someone "i bet you $4000 i will get a date with megan fox at some point in my life"

well, u wont be around to pay up if u lose, so why take the bet?

do i think any of this went through james's mind @ speedfactory before his test? hell no. he had the cams he had, at his own expense, and put the test together. he did us a favor.

now its up to us to push him to try the delta and colts. i know geoff @ colt wont care to provide a cam for free, he knows his stuff is good and hes not concerned about sales at all. hes a family man and family comes first.

but i would really like to see delta step up to the plate and put something together with speedfactory for one last test...

330 crank hp!!!

And yeah the powerband is PRETTY W I D E with a lot of torque(39kg)!!!:bigok:

I was thinking for a gt2871r because its pretty much the same turbo on the outside except the cartridge! Its a plug and play for me!!!

Will see!!!

2.4 can give you even greater powerband, BUT.. your (the same as mine 2860rs) turbo is maxed out. Invest in 2871 and, sure, turbo cam is always a good choice. Post your dyno graph and I will find my to compare.
