ok guys im contemplating an n/a build cuz im a broke father of twins :) gotta keep it simple, just wanna hear your thoughts on this setup:

a6 bottom end, new hardware
a6 pistons
y8 2 layer hg
rebuilt z6 head
supertech springs
either a sv909, or a 272 regrind on the cam
y8 intake manifold
60mm t.b.
egay header to compliment my egat 2.25 exhaust
.030 off the head to bump comp. more
shaved stock flywheel down to 12lbs

im looking to gain about 10:5/11:1 comp. depending on head mill. i drive 40 miles daily anyone think that 11:1 would kill me on gas? my goal is to try for at least 140 whp and i really wanna break 14's at the track like a 14.9999999 with my heavy ass 95 ex. any cheap suggestions?

yea id be running 93 octane most likely, i would think that boosted would consume more tho wich is why i havent proposed a plan for a low budget boosty.

Should be fine, just keep an eye on your ignition setup. The higher the compression, the stronger the spark needs to be. 11:1 is completely doable on a good tune and still be able to run 89-91 octane.

there are lots of honda motors that run 11:1 on pump.
you wont have any problems with a good tune as mentioned above.
go for it!

a small turbo making the same power would be better on gas

good parts list, the z6 head is a great match for the a6 setup

ryan89crx is getting 42mpg IIRC and his turbo isnt exactly "small", and he is in the 350hp range as well i think.

thanks guys, i like to hear that. if i can get at least 30 mpg with either a turbo or all motor build then i woul dbe happy. i just want to stick to some stock components tha i own, such as z6 rods and pistons, a6 longblock, arp rod bolts. my current dd z6 has around 300k so thats where that a6 come into play :)

i have a coupe same color as yours! haha, high compression sohc sounds like fun dd!!! this should spank b16 swap civic anyday!!

89 CRX, A6 bottom with Y8 head, 10.7:1 compression on 89 octane, no tuning, 41 mpg.

DOHC ZC close ratio tranny. For MPG I go 1-3-5 or 2-5....for fun I row then all. 3.89 FD/.878 5th will soon be replaced with 4.25 FD and either .750 or .702 5th.

oh yeah, yuo hitting Edgewater or Tristate?

20" slicks makes all the difference gearing wise.

aznboy515 horizon gray metallic is an amazin stock color! looks purple in the right light. I tend to favor edgewater, but have been wanting to make a stop out to thornhill for some reason.
