First hand experience...the 88 prelude belt fits, the integra does not.

I guess you could call Honda and ask...or just be thankful there is a domestically available belt that fits the cam gears that are a different size then the d16a1

Answer: The cam gears and crank gear are a different size on a ZC than in a USDM Integra. ie. different size belt. You can't mix and match.

The cams I believe also have the keyway for the cam in a slightly different spot. You can probably use cams from either car but must have adjustable cam gears to make it work. The alignment marks will also be different.

Just remember that the crank gear has to match the cam gears (both ZC or both NOT) as this is the relationship that makes a particular belt work or you will have big time trouble.

to be more specific, the 89-91 DOHC ZC engine or 2nd gen blacktop ZC is NOT an integra motor, its a civic/crx motor. This one uses an 88 Prelude timing belt, whereas the 1st gen black tops use an 86-89 integra timing belt.

Sounds like apples and oranges time. Unfortunately the use of the term ZC gets misused by most individuals. One instance is confusing the 86-89 USDM Integras as ZC's, they are NOT. However there is a JDM version ZC of this particular engine.

Civics/CRX which have a DOHC ZC version have a different valve cover bolt arrangement from the Integras. However most people use the term ZC with a broad brush over the ranges. THe term ZC is used for strictly JDM engines in each of the particular engine types as they have the highest HP in each of the individual ranges. Clear as mud? There are also Euro and Aus/NZ versions but are not ZC's.

So when one posts that they have a ZC on this board and don't qualify from what car, I am always suspect of what they ar really talking about.

Edit: Katman, Just re-read your post and one of your comments on another thread. I think we can agree as to the confusion because of the naming/branding of the different engines. Perhaps the moderator could put up a sticky with the different available ZC's and give them each a special term that we could all use on this board to differentiate them so that we are all on the same page and we don't have to go through this explanation all the time.
