  1. WTB: D16Z6 Exhaust Parts

    Want to Buy
@slo_eg8, I appreciate the offer, but I don't want to make you look around a junkyard for something I can easily get myself (besides I can look at it that way). I also wasn't totally thinking shipping through either, I forgot how heavy these are. I just figured a bunch of people would have these...
  2. WTB: D16Z6 Exhaust Parts

    Want to Buy
I'm in CO, so it's very dry here. I'd imagine the exhausts in junk yards here are in okay condition, never checked before though. It's mostly the studs that are stripped on my header, I know you can buy new studs, but I think it's going to be a real pain to get the existing ones out.

  4. WTB: D16Z6 Exhaust Parts

    Want to Buy
Hi all, I'm looking for a D16Z6 exhaust manifold (part no. 18100-P08-000) and a D16Z6 pre-cat (part no. 18210-SR3-A73). Thanks!
  5. WTB: D16Z6 Distributor

    Want to Buy
Hi all, I'm looking for a D16Z6 distributor (part no. 30100-P08-006). Obviously it needs to be in working condition.
  6. Slight “Knocking” Sound at Idle - D15B VTEC

    General Tech
The sound only gets made at that low RPM, if it is making the sound at a higher RPM (certainly possible) I can't hear it. There does seem to be a slight knocking sound (more like rattling) when starting the car cold in the morning. I feel really great about that... Regarding the timing belt, it...
  7. Slight “Knocking” Sound at Idle - D15B VTEC

    General Tech
Okay, sorry for the super late response. I've had a bunch of other things (including other problems with the car) to deal with in the meantime. Generally it will only make the sound at around 1000-1100 rpm. Occasionally the car will idle a bit lower than normal so it will make the sound at a...
  8. Leaking From Oil Filter - D15B VTEC

    General Tech
Replaced the oil pressure sensor a few days ago, no leaks since then! Thanks so much for the help, glad to have the car not losing a quart of oil a week!
  9. Slight “Knocking” Sound at Idle - D15B VTEC

    General Tech
Hey all, I’ve got a JDM D15B VTEC in my 93’ Civic DX hatchback. I’ve been having a problem where once the engine is warm and I coast up to a stop in neutral or with the clutch in the engine will make sort of a small “knocking” sound. It’s not like a rattle or anything, more like a hollow...
  10. Leaking From Oil Filter - D15B VTEC

    General Tech
Hey all, I’ve got a JDM D15B VTEC I got from HMO. I’ve probably put about 1,000 miles on it since getting it in the car. Since I started it up it’s been leaking from the oil filter. I cannot figure out why or how to fix it. This is now the third OEM Honda filter I’ve had on it, everyone gets a...
  11. D15B VTEC Won't Start - Cranks and Has Spark

    General Tech
Thanks for the help and responses everyone! I got it figured out. I had assumed it was getting fuel due to the fact that fuel was getting to the fuel filter, but this was a bad assumption. The fuel injectors were totally non-functional which was keeping the engine from starting. I swapped over...
  12. D15B VTEC Won't Start - Cranks and Has Spark

    General Tech
It is a complete stock D15B. How do you time a D15B? My US service manual obviously does not cover it. My understanding from reading various threads was it needs to be timed like a USDM D15Z1. Is this correct? I'll do ignition timing once I get it started.
  13. D15B VTEC Won't Start - Cranks and Has Spark

    General Tech
Good call on the CEL. I took the old one out of my old engine, and then realized I had the wrong plug attached on the new engine. Plugging in the correct plug got rid of the CEL. I do want to make sure I didn't time it correctly before I try starting it. This is a JDM D15B VTEC (all stock). My...
  14. D15B VTEC Won't Start - Cranks and Has Spark

    General Tech
Hi all, just got done installing a new to me D15B VTEC from HMO. The car is a 93' DX manual hatchback that originally came with a D15B7. The following describes how I installed it: - Using a VX timing belt and timed according to the factory service manual procedure for a D15Z1 engine. - Using...
  15. Lifting Engine Without Transmission Attached

    General Tech
Okay, I think I have a plan now. Thanks for the responses. I think I'll lift the engine onto a crate so I can get the transmission off and then just use one of the transmission bolt holes to lift it onto the stand. I was trying to think of a way to get the transmission off with the engine...
  16. Lifting Engine Without Transmission Attached

    General Tech
Thanks for the response transzex. So I'd still have to muscle the transmission off on the floor or something with that approach (since the transmission has to be out to use them. Am I missing something?
  17. Broken Vacuum Nipple (?) on Throttle Body

    General Tech
Okay I did some more research, unless I'm mistaken D16Z6 and D15B have the same throttle body and intake manifold. Sorry, should have looked a little bit harder. I guess I'll try to find a fitting that works for the throttle body I have... I suppose I could go to the junkyard and look for one too.
  18. Broken Vacuum Nipple (?) on Throttle Body

    General Tech
Hey all, I just received a new to me D15B VTEC and one of the vacuum nipples on the throttle body is broken. I had difficulty searching this because I don't even know what the thing is called: How are these attached? Are they threaded or pressed or what? Can you buy new ones somewhere or...
  19. Questions on ZC Swaps - 5th Gen Civic

    General Tech
All, I've never done an engine swap before, but the stock D15B7 in my EG hatch (93' Civic DX 5-speed hatchback) is pretty much done. I'm trying to figure something out to replace it and I don't really want to screw around with junkyard engines or rebuilding the stock engine. I want to stay...
