    Engine Building
No recommendations so here is what I bought; CP pistons ACT lightweight flywheel ACL bearings Genuine Honda gaskets throughout along with a Y8 head gasket. Suppliers are Honda Parts Now, Summit racing, and various e-bay vendors.
  2. Which Head Gasket?

    Engine Building
No I have never measured the bore on a Japanese head gasket or any others. Never needed to. I have built many Mopar's and some Chevy's and a builder always goes with a larger bore head gasket with over bored cylinders with domestic so I just wanted to be clear on this with the Honda. Stock...

Ok. Clear. Thanks to all for the responses!
  4. Which Head Gasket?

    Engine Building
Just to make sure I got this right, are you saying I use a 75mm head gasket on a 75.5 bore? Do you guys not recommend an even thinner comectic head gasket?
  5. Which Head Gasket?

    Engine Building
I'm in the process of selecting parts for my d16a6 rebuild and I need a head gasket. My block is now 75.5 bore. Do I get a 76mm head gasket or 75.5? Also, I want to go thin as possible for compression purposes. Suggestions?
  6. Engine Fastener Advise

    General Tech
When rebuilding Honda engines do you guys always use ARP or new head bolt/studs? Do you also use ARP or new main/cranks bolts/studs? What are the chances the cylinders on Honda high mileage engines are distorted (egg shaped)? This engine will be NA but I will be installing new ARP rod bolts...

  8. D16A6 Water Pump to Thermostat Tube

    Engine Building
Questions; Referring to a D16A6, should I remove the metal coolant tube/pipe connecting the water pump to the thermostat housing when sending the block to the machine shop? If so, do you cut the tube for removal and later splice with rubber hose?
  9. Valve Spring Removal Tool

    Engine Building
The tool looks to me that its has plenty of open space for use of a magnet to pull those keepers out.
  10. Valve Spring Removal Tool

    Engine Building
I'm tearing down my D16A6 and I have been reading posts and watching youtube video's on how to go about the removal of the valve springs on a D series head. I have yet to see a good tool for this job that is relatively sane and without the possibility of losing the keepers. I have found an OTC...
  11. D16A6 Rebuild With A Little More HP

    Engine Building
The time is now and I have begun the engine removal process. I only get to work on it for a short time after I get home from work and I don't have the luxury of a shop so I won't be quick in getting this job finished. I have never built anything other than old Mopar's and Chevy's so I need...

  16. D16A6 - PCV Valve Problem

    Naturally Aspirated
This exact same thing happened to me just a few weeks back. I let it ride without a pcv valve until I performed an upcoming oil/filter change because the oil filter needs to be out of the way to remove the plastic tubing that connects the pcv to the black filter box. I used the appropriate...

  18. Socketed OBD0 PM6 ECU

    Naturally Aspirated
I really don't think I had a rev limiter or launch control but I know for sure I had no shift light on my CRX si with the factory stock ecu. The chipped and socketed ecu I bought has the shift light feature burnt into now programable and removable chip. The shift light utilizes the check...
  19. Socketed OBD0 PM6 ECU

    Naturally Aspirated
I have a socketed custom PM6 ECU with shift light. launch control, and rpm limiter but the chip is otherwise stock. The car is an OBD0 D16A6 89 CRX si and the only mods are a K&N CAI, DC Sports header, 2 1/4 cat back piping, and a straight through Magnaflow muffler. I don't have access to a...
