Unhappy Clutch pedal broke

When I was leaving work tonight the clutch pedal pivot arm broke where it is welded to the bracket. I remove all the nuts that I could see and it still seems to be bolted down somewhere or is that backet part of the dash it self? Has anyone had this problem or know what I'm talking about??
The car is at work so i can't give pics to show. btw this is on my 88 ef hatch.

Hope this is enough info and the right forum

The whole pedal assembly comes off. Its mounted to the firewall with like 5-6 nuts. One of them is near the top up under an air vent tube. You mite have to remove the dash to find all the nuts.
