Default I have a bad VSS on a auto tranny - will any VSS work?

The auto tranny in question is a '93 DX. The speedo and odometer are intermittent (well, mostly dead 95% of the time).

Will a VSS from any '92-95 Civic work as a replacement? How about a VSS from a '94-up Integra? Just want to know what I can look for at the junkyard . . .

What mileage do VSSs typically start to fail at?

Thanks in advance tranny peeps.

Thanks transzex - I tried that already though. I used WD-40 repeatedly, plugged it on and off a bunch of times. I also tried a contact enhancer called Oxy-gard (I think - it's a metallic paste in a white and red tube) that has worked for me in the past - no improvement.
