Default CG Transmission-2nd Gen CRX

Building a 600whp+ Z6 and was tossing around transmission ideas, the obvious one being D2B.

A buddy of mine turboprelude95, pointed out the possibility of swapping an 88-89 Integra transmission instead of investing into a D2B setup.

I've read Mikes "CG trans onto D16Z6-everything you need to know thread" roughly 15+ times in the last 3 days. (with the understanding he deleted his posts here because Bone pointed out things that he needed to address and claimed to be a professional transmission rebuilder). Fabbing up the side/front mount is pretty straight forward but was curious what my options were for the rear mount?

I've found this T-bracket that would be needed for a D2B setup- https://www.jhpusa.com/store/pc/view...dproduct=31588

Anyone happen to know if this bracket, with modifications similar to Mikes rear bracket, could be used to mount up the rear of the transmission in an 1989 CRX?

I understand that, kind of a useless post but okay.

Bone, what's involved that you'd recommend ditching this idea and going D2B?

Fabbing the mounts is really simple to do. However, I recommend just building the D trans. Cost less than building a B, will be stronger than a B (until you drop 3k+ for a gear set), cost less than building a CG, stronger than a CG, completely bolt-on unlike the CG and B.

the external 5th gear make these trannies REALLY strong, inherently, because the shafts are supported a bit better, ...and supposedly the internals are pretty tough. so...yeah, its a good option.

but... its a hassle.

i'd probably toss some parts at a D box, and soft-launch it, and not abuse it. D, B, and CG will all break with hard abuse.

I'm shooting for 600whp out of my Z6, The block is CSS'd, Supertech 10.5:1 pistons with skunk 2 alpha rods, port polished head, oversized Ferrea valves, comp cam, bronze valve guides, ect. with a front mounted Borge Warner S366XS running Q16 fuel. Most threads I have read are stating that pushing the D series transmissions past 500whp is walking on a tight rope, and people recommend going B series at the hp. But I've seen people like Ryan running 10.8's with 600whp with a CG trans bolted to the motor, thus I became interested in bolting one up. I'm no expert and still have a lot to learn, but it seems the Transmission specialists are pointing me in other directions then the CG transmission.

Thanks for the replies I'm looking into all the options provided!

Of all the D transmissions I've built (a lot for 500+ setups) only one has broken, and that was a lower power (350'ish iirc) setup that deadhooked 2nd.

It has one advantage over the B's and all other D's, the item is mislabeled when you look it up.

NOT a drain bolt, but a tensioner bolt.
