Default Wobbling shifter

Hi. I am having trouble with my civic 99 which I gave to my brother. Car was running perfectly fine before I gave it to him.

So he came back with the shifter super wobbly ever in gear. Can't go into reverse or any low gears. Looks like it will randomly go into 3rd 4th or 5th gear only.

Do I have a bad transmission or do you guys think it's just something loose?

Yes I just did. The bushing that holds the shifter is busted. Don't know if that would cause it. Plus all screws are pretty snug.

Wouldn't hurt to check the slop in the front joint while you're at it.

Mine was awful...

Mine was bad too. Had nylon bushings turned to replace the worn out pieces, and tightened it all back up. Huge difference, can actually feel what gear I'm in.

This. It's way cheaper than ordering it from Honda, and will clean up a bunch of play in the shifter.
