Default New motor no start

I put a new y8 into my 97 civic ex coupe and now it won't turn over. I got spark and fuel so I have no idea what it could be. Any ideas?

Grounds seem fine, ECU was replaced and worked right before I took out this motor, how do I check the timing?

how do you know it has fuel and spark properly when it does not turn over?

Figure out why the starter is not spinning first

Fuel pump is priming, there's gas on spark plugs, I pulled off the banjo bolt on rail while it had a little fuel pressure and sure enough gas came out.


Spark, I has a buddy stick a screw driver into the spark plug as I turned the key and we got a blew arc on all 4

I lost the original nut that goes to the engine harness positive wire to the tranny. Maybe that could be the problem? Idk

the only positive on the transmission is the wire for the starter ...

so,do you have a nut to hold that wire on the starter post?


try a cap that isn't cracked ,dry off your plugs ,make sure all the harness plugs are going to the right sensors

and try again ..

Put a nut on the starter stud to hold the power wire.

Change out the cracked cap for a new one.

You will need to put the motor at top dead center on conpression stroke and make sure cam and dizzy line up

When I installed dizzy the motor wasn't tdc. How do I ensure cam and dizzy are aligned?

distributor should only fit one way via key slot. But dumbass's have in the past jammed it on there and wondered why the engine was farting out the intake and rattling the pistons

be careful, doublecheck your work, and if even slightly unsure. Look it up.

Gain some experience. But do not rush anything!
