Default Can I run this.

This may be a stupid question. But, I bought a civic that has a D16a1 that is built to be turboed. My thing is I don't want to put a turbo kit on it, so even if I don't want to put turbo on it. Will I still need to get a tuned ecu and switch it to obd1?

No aftermarket cams, an the guy said the compression isn't different.

built to be turbo just means the internals can handle the extra boost. if its still stock-ish compression and stock cam/fuel/ect then youll be fine to run a stock ecu.


I have a z6 block with fjt rods and forged pistons, if I didn't want to turbo it, I could slap a head on it, throw it in the car and drive it forever.

Stock motor is my guess man. use the proper ecu for the motor. If the guy didnt tell you what was done. ill bet it wasent even rebuilt lol

Yea sure. Drink this from this bottle with no lable and let me know if it tastes funny.


But really. There is no telling. Without onow8ng what was d9ne to the motor ,we cant say if it is ok to run or not.

"Built for turbo" could mean anything

Hell it could be stock and you just got sold on it.
It could be low pstions. Etc.....

So frist find out whats in it and then go from there.
If its to far off from stock your need to get it tune.
