Default Whats up, new into the D-series engines... What can i get myself into?

What up guys and gals, so I just recently got a 1998 Civic LX d16y7 fullly stock motor, (possible burning oil, or leaking onto hot exhaust...) i upgraded my Intake to a Short Ram intake and I installed an ebay DNA Motoring 4-2-1 Header exhaust system, with test pipe, which id like to replace with a cat... Now im not sure what difference ive really made if any... but id like to know if someone out there could give me some advice or let me know, id like to build up my motor, and make it a mean d16... something maybe down the road i could boost or force induction... any ideas?

Ive had previous civics but this is my first d-series SOHC and id like to actually do it right. make it a nice build...

Also, im from ATX, if anybody knows of any Honda or Import meets, or groupes that i could maybe meet some friends at and get to know some fellow Honda Enthusiasts that would be cool

Thanks guys for your help and looking forward to being able to see what i can get going.

I have your same motor in my 97 DX.

Dont bother installing the header until you get an exhaust,. or at least the oem muffler chopped off and a real muffler installed. My car buzzes and burns rice all the time now, its annoying as fuck with a header bolted to stock exhaust.

research on your engine. you will find chucking the shitty intake manifold and going with a Y8 or Z6 is your best bet for MUCH stronger high rpm power, and a stronger midrange. Might only peak over 15 or so ponies more, but its power under curve improvement that makes the deal.

I know this is the noob forum but... "My engine is burning oil... So i installed an intake and header..."

Fix your major problems before you run it into the ground. Or just get a spare block to build on the side and not worry about the current block and continue to run it into the ground. Just stay stock until you know exactly what you want to do. Intake and exhaust makes no difference on a stock engine, basically a waste of money. Thats where knowing what you want to do comes into play. Its like taping a playing card to your bike, sure it sounds cool but youre not going anywhere faster. Too bad that "card" cost money that you could have put towards something more important. So first things first figure out how much you want to spend, when you want to get it done, and what kind of power and streetability you want.
