Default First Honda help

What's up everyone, I just bought a 2000 ex sedan and i had a few questions. The car came with a jdm vtec d15b. It is running a p2p ecu, and ex s40 trans. There are a couple plugs that are not connected, and I suppose it's cause it's a obd1 engine using the stock harness that came with the car. There is also a vacuum hose that has a bolt in it, no idea what that is for. The car has a bogging noise, my guess is one of the 02 sensor, or ecu? there is no primary near the dc headers that the previous owner installed. Is the car fine running p2p or should I get a p08 or p28?. There is a space on top the transmission that looks like something used to be there. The accessory drive belt is in bad shape as well so what belt for what us engine will work with the d15b? any help will be appreciated.

Have you tried using a obd1 ecu?

Not yet, that's why I'm here asking if anyone else ran this setup. It has a cel as well my guess cause it's running the obd2 ecu on a obd1 engine, and maybe an O2. It won't pass smog, but it runs fine, just the irritating bogging at idle.

First pic of intake manifold shows a plug, its for the evap solenoid that was once there on the y8 intake manifold.

The hole on top of the trans is a vent, it normally has a elbowed rubber breather but as long as water doesn't go into that hole you will be fine.

The hose with the bolt in it is for coolant to flow to the throttle body. I can't see from the photo's but I'm assuming they bypassed it thus the reason for the block off.

Thank you so much gearhead98, am I fine running this current setup? Or should I get a p28 or pO8? Again what accessory drive belt can I use to replace the current one?

Be careful. That hose might be coolant look up the intake manifold diagram from Majestic Honda to see which one it is...

Look for the block markings to find the year... if its >95 a z6 if it's 96< a y8...

Also look into OBD1 and ODB2 conversion swaps to understand the differences.

You sound reasonable enough to figure this out yourself... But feel free to ask specific questions.

Plug the oil psi switch wires are just cut. (Green plug red wires in last pic)
And you said there is a p2p ecu on there now. Find out what the check engine light is for then work on fixing those problems.

And since it's a 96 and up it will have to do an obd2 scan test. If you swap to obd1 you won't be able to pass.

You need what ever ecu belongs to that engine, I would keep the p2p but buy the right ecu for that motor. If your in California have fun smogging this vehicle, your going to have to get a 2000 d16y8 to swap back in

It says p08 on intake and head so I guess jdm obd1?. Why would they bypass the coolant hose though? Is it possible to swap a obd1 engine with obd2b harness and ecu, cause it seems like that's the set up I have, could that be the reason for the bogging?. So I need the obd2b to obd1 conversion jumper harness with p08 ecu or chipped with p08 base maps correct?

It's already plugged in?
, Why wouldn't it pass? Is it cause the ecu is looking for things the y8 had that the d15b doesn't? Would the conversion harness with correct ecu fix this? It also has a 4-2-1 dc headers, I don't see no bung in it nor a primary O2 sensor, cause I want to find out if it's a 4 wire or 1 wire O2.

I'm in Vegas and we smog as well =\. The guy I bought it from didn't know crap history about the car, I'm pretty sure he got it off an auction, it's pretty beat up interior wise, probably gonna gut it for that reason cause it's so filthy. Any one with a jdm d15b that did pass smog? Sucks cause it doesn't seem like a lot of members on here having the jdm obd1 d15b swap
