I was wondering what the normal temperature for a D16y8 is. Or rather, will 700 degree copper gasket sealer work to seal my headers? I just need to make a new gasket between the top and bottom sections.
700 degrees? i didnt know it got that hot
i thought around 700 or 800 degrees it would start to glow.
i might be wrong...ive never tested exhaust tempatures with anything but my hands/wrist/arms on accident wihle changing oil or whatnot.
ive got a good scar from an avalanche (funny story).
i would assume that the 700 degree sealer would be ok...but i could be wrong @.@
I'm not an expert but, I'd be concerned that the 700 deg sealer wouldn't hold up. I'd get some gasket material made for headers & make a new hasket.
Just my .02
wow when i was at fire stone we were going an alignment and we had to heat up the bolt on the tierod and it was glowing orange cuz it was so hot....and i asked how hot they think it was and he told me around 800 degrees... goes to show you cant trust only one persons input.
