Default Is it safe to assume this is making ~60hp

I have a 1988 crx...the harness is hf....the ecu is pm8...d15b2 block, pm8-1 head. Seems as though maybe somewhere in its life it needed a different block and they just used a d15b2? Just trying to draw some expectations for when this is up and running

Caveat...am I to believe anecdotally that the pistons in the d15b2 shortblock are setup for 16v? So if the need to add better heads arises I’m looking at simply bolting on some heads.

you are still basically a stock HF. the pm3 pistons inside the d15b2 motors simply had 4 valve reliefs instead of the usual 2.
So yes, you could swap heads and ecu in the future for a bit more grunt.

There does exist aftermarket connecting rods for the d15b2, so you could do a clever turbo build at some point, and piss some people off with something like a 250whp d15 or something lol

It has to be a stock motor for the class I race in...which if I like this frame next year I’ll just put a b16 in, but honestly I’ve heard 130hp is about all the power you need to win in my circuit so......

Any stock honda/acura engine is allowed as long as it is not modified? Or do you need an engine that was a stock option for that car?

stock engine to your car? or stock engine to your chassis and generation?

In that case, a d16a6 with a good head slice will easily get you over 100whp if it is in tip top running condition.

B16 wasnt ever stock in any american CRXs, and as far as I know, wasnt stock in any CRX anywhere else in the world until 90, so read your rules carefully.

Stock engines for an american 88 CRX were the 62hp D15B6, the 92hp D15B2, or the 105hp D15A6. Again, check your rules carefully to see if the engine code has to match the chassis code, or if you were allowed to use any CRX engine from your year range.

What intake do you currently have? Is it MPFI or DPFI?

My car falls into an 88-91 block, vin #’s aren’t matches. So I could use a 91 motor. This is where interpretation of gray areas come in. Honda is the manufacturer...and Honda certainly did put b16’s in them...so I’d argue with any tech guy that it’s stock factory motor for the chassis. They never said US market. And if you’re into cheating, you could always restamp a vtec b20 with b16 heads as a b16, it’d have to be a savvy tech to know the difference . All that to say you need balance, more power doesn’t always mean more wins
