Default ways to improve cooling on a turbo EF?

Hi guys for those not following my thread in the general tech section i am trying to track down why my car runs at 206 to 208 degrees according to hondata. i have a stock full size rad, a new oem pump, the hood is spaced up at the rear. i added water wetter and even tried running the fan all the time, it still runs at those temps. my turbo is close to the rad so i am sure it is transferring some heat into it, but it seems odd that even with it being 30 degrees out side i cant get the car under 206 when im just cruising around. the intercooler dont help i am sure as it is in front of the rad but still there must be something else i can do. my thermostat is a 180 degree one so you would think as cold as it is out side it would run closer to that. so my here is what i think.

1 the turbo and exhaust are transferring heat into the rad not allowing it to go lower then 206.

or
2 the hondata is full of it and my car is actually cooler.

or
3 the intercooler is just not allowing enough cool air to hit the radiator.
so any one with actual numbers as to what temps there d motors run at and any ways to lower my temps would be great, its winter and 208 just seems to hot to me, in the summer it will be even higher i bet. so lets hear it guys what do your boosted D motors run at normally and what do you think i should do.

If the temp is stable then I really don't see a problem.

You have an ED btw not an EF.

the problem is the ecu wants to pull out timing at 208, i could change it so it don't but there must be a reason why my tuner thinks 208 is to hot to run the optimal timing. any way this is in the winter if it was summer i would say low 200s is ok but its like 30 degrees out side so this seems hot to me.

What's considered normal for your car in the fsm?

I was just going over this problem a couple days ago on my 93 ej1. My car sits at 205 at long periods of idle and after hard runs.It will go lower but never higher then 205,so I looked in the fsm and it says the t-stat is full open around 194 degrees and the radiator fan on temperature is 196-203.

I've got a 160 degree thermostat in my Z6 with with a JRSC. I put my Coolant Temp sensor in the water outlet on tthe head and it sits between 175-185 driving. So that sounds about right. the ecu temp sensor is close to the same spot, the hottest place is where the coolant exits the head.

I just looked at your sig and your runing the same motor as me anyways..
What size radiator fan? Im runing a 12 inch slim fan that pushes about 1200cfm and it works great.

I think your best bet would be like 99ejt said and swap to a dual core half size rad especially if thats going to move it away from the turbo because that would cause your problem. You could also try wraping the downpipe and making a turbo heatsheild. I just looked at some of my logs and cruising around town I get about 180-190, Sitting and idling for long periods of time I will get up to but never past 205 with my fan on

Would this really help the problem? It's only there to open when you get upto temp, and stop water flow at lower temps so you can warm up quicker.

If this was your answer, then your better off pulling the stat out totally as it will flow better then.

My car run's at 82 degree's C. I'm in the UK. I do get temps of upto 210f/100c if i've been driving hard for a while.

Also, put the heaters on should the temp go 2 high, this keeps it a bit cooler.

Upgrade rad and fans... Thats the only thing I can think of unless you have other problems like a blown head gasket but there are other symptoms associated with that

Honestly man I would go to a local auto parts store and get a an infrared gun. I think I saw one for like $30. Let you car get up to temp and start beaming that sucker around, check the upper and lower hoses, hit a couple spots on your rad, heater hoses etc. Check and see if any of them are hitting 208. That might give you a better idea if your Coolant temp sesnor is reading right.

What kind of I/C are you running? If it's an eBay special it could be too restrictive.

"GOD" said either a bad ECT sensor, corroded pins at the sensor, or the Hondata not calibrated correctly.
