Default Variable twinscroll turbo?

Hi members Long time

Has any of you looked into variable twinscroll turbos?

It looks to be to good to be true for me

Same concept as a variable geometry turbo on the diesels. I'm a diesel tech by trade so I deal with them a lot. If you build one let me know I've been thinking about building one myself.

I know someone who's fitted one of these to a UK-spec Mondeo diesel. Peak torque comes in earlier and it feels like the engine spins more freely. The car's driveability is much improved.

Don't some BMWs use them to good effect?

I've seen two people who made their own & seen a bunch of supra guys use a similar adapter from Sound Performance. It's a plate that bolts between the inlet & manifold for a t4 flange and has a simple butterfly on one side. I had a similar idea to this a while ago, putting a long flap valve into 2" long cast WG adapter tube and placing the pivot at the bottom.

The supra version doesn't reconfigure it back into a divided turbo but the turbo above does. You can then have a larger turbine housing for a faster spool & better torque curve.
