Default d16z6 pushing oil and compression numbers

lately my car is just throwing oil out all over the place, not even sure where, just did an oil change, cleaned the block up, redid the valve cover, new filter, re did the oil feed with all parker hydraulics fittings.

when i get into high load or boost this thing smokes like hell.

it has to be a ring or broken pison.

i just checked my compression wich is usually about 120psi (pistons and rods d16z6 like 7.6:1 compression) its vitara pistons and those custom length rods.

compression from left to right is 105-120-120-140

cyl1 is a little low and cyl 4 is high... im thinking broken oil ring or something in 4 for it to be so high? its never been that high before...

its pushing it out all the gaskets it seems, engine bay is always soaked in oil, and when i get into boost it smokes like a bitch, but compression is pretty close to what it was.

it just recently started oiling all over the place.

if i rip down the street and stop at a stop sign i get smoke out the hood and in the vents.

it isnt smoking out the tailpipe as far as i can tell...

whats strange is when i did the valvecover and everything else i seem to have made it worse lol

check your PCV system for clogs. your using a turbo, your gonna have more blow-by. you might need a different PCV valve, or just a new one

i remember seeing a saab 95 turbo that needed a new PCV system, because the one the factory originally installed was not designed for a turbo motor. i remember the tubes and inlets/outlets being much larger than the original one.. and it pushed Quarts of oil out from everywhere when it got clogged

Yea sounds like blowby. Comp can be great but blow by will push oil out any oil passage.
So route the pcv to a vented can or to the suction of the turbo. Should help n fix the problem.

your compression is low as fuck dude.
rings are prob shot to hell. or broken ringlands. sounds like blow by like a mofo.
you prob have so much crank case pressure in boost im guessing. cause oil to be pushed out of gaskets.

i would say 160 is good compression numbers for a vitara build on standard length rods
anything lower then 150 i would say is low. 120 is way way to low IMO.
my last motor was at 170 with standard length rods and vitara pistons.

ill have to swap the pistons and rings one day next week.

so that cyl 4 with 150 seems like the only good set of rings eh? haha

i bought the block with 2 burnt pistons and it came with some spares, i guess the rings are shot in the spare and regular ones.

ill have to hone and do new vitaras and rings and see what my numbers are at.

maybe this thing will pickup big power when i pickup 40psi or so in every cyl

did you reuse pistons with used rings on them?

and im sure it will make a big power difference

yeah it was all used shit, i just threw this thing together for fun, now to me its worth it.

i bought new pistons, new rings, and another stock headgasket last night.

ill have to see if i can find a simple bottle brush or something for the cyls to give them a fresh start.
