Default Decompression Plate feasibility question.

I'm trying to help a friend with a junk yard kit and td05 and get it into the dyno. I tried to search but couldn't find anything on decompression plates.

The problem is we put together a 11.4:1 a6 29mm compression height p29/pm7 build last summer.

I looked into a couple 2.5 or 3mm head gaskets. My tuner says he can draw up a copy of an mls in cad and send it to his laser cutting friend to burn out a decompression plate to save $$. I said It would need to be .100"-.130" thick and just put the black layers of the stock mls on each side.

Does this old school trick really work despite having no quench for lower hp amounts on stock rods for pump gas?
Would it be stupid because of the p29 dome and weaker ring land design?

If we tried to boost the high compression engine would we have to pull so much timing on pump gas that we couldn't make it to 210whp? No chamber work was done. Thanks.

How low are you trying to drop the comp?

*giggles*

Kill your quench even more. Die, quench! Die!

How about putting in new pistons?

Below 9:1 or Just above it depending on cost. The cometic's were kind of pricey. A potential Hg failure when they cost that much is territory I can't be getting into.
It would be easier to rehone and swap in a set of stock y8 piston&rods I have.
Or match up an a6 piston&rod to the three good ones I have if some one had one to sell on here but the guy is crying about piston slap. That way I could just transfer over the rings and bearings in the same hole.

Or since your only going for 200whp, keep the compression and make awesome power.

See: DILYSI Dave's D16A6.

you can run that compression on boost. make lots of torque and only have to have 5-8 psi. tuning however would be the nightmare.

my vote goes with putting a6/z6 pistons in it.

make sure the bearings stay with there rods and you put them back in the same hole.

if you are feeling frisky and want to gamble on taking the rings off and putting them back on the new pistons and putting them back in the same hole
