Is upgrading to 4" DP/Exhaust worth the added cost?
Set-up will eventually be composed of a Vitara Y8 + Custom Top Mount + T3/T04E 57 Trim.

3" is more than enough for what you're doing. Remember, if you ever decide to do exhaust, 4" isn't cheap, or easy to do

One of the recent tuner mag's (super street, import TNR, or modified) did a. Very similiar test comparing 3 vs 3.5 exhaust on a supra The 3.5 netted over 30 horse on the 3.5 vs the 3. If ya got the room. Go big

knowing it being a supra is gonna suggest that they are making well over 600whp. there is a shop up here in maine that has a supra they use for drifting and they had it tuned down to 650whp for the track by my house. the thing is beast on bigger tracks he was telling me he runs about 800whp

dont know how true it is but it is deff a crazy ass supra

3" exhaust baseline 527 whp @ 19 Psi
3.5 exhaust netted 567 whp peak gain of 66 whp @ 6000 rpm

3" @ 29 Psi = 699whp
3.5 @ 29 Psi = 740
In the article it noted that the turbo spooled 150-200 rpm's faster with the larger exhaust diameter because The extra half inch equals 36% increase of volume

turbo outlet size on the supra?? willing to bet the turbo outlet was already 3"..

outlet on most turbos a civic can mount, including the one the OP has, is only 2.5".... so a 3" DP is technically .5" bigger then it needs to be...

OP: keep in mind most places only keep 4" pipe for diesel trucks. which also means they will probably NOT have the right bends to make an exhaust for a little civic with ZERO room for it.

also its probably good to remember that 400+ whp has been made on 3" DP and exhausts (no cat), which is way way more then most street cars need. if your running a drag only car, just run it out the side with the 3" or out the hood with a little 4" pipe. either way, if your driving on the street, 3" is more then enough for that you can control on street tires.

3in is bad enough 4in is just a pure bitch in most cases and then there is the question of why especially if your turbo is 3in or smaller.

JFK78 made well over 600 whp with a 3inch dp. i doubt you will be making that kind of power so even 4 inch is a waste unless you are running a big ol turbo. stick to 3inch. much easier to get stuff made with that.
