Default Boost gauge and map sensor read different

I was checking one log file of my car, and the map sensor reads 9 psi, and the boost gauge 12psi.

Its an autometer gauge, I was reading on ectune forum and they say to go with the map reading.

If this is true, I have space to turn up the boost 2 more psi, and 13s on my DD are ready.

So give me your opinion please

if its an mechanical boost gauge then i wouldn't trust it. map sensor is much more accurate.
electronic boost gauges actually use a map sensor signal. either way go with whatever your map says

yea never take ur mechanical gauge as the "ACCURATE" reading....only use it as a reference...ur map is always gonna be accurate....tho i have seen some autometer gauges to be dead on...but its not gona be likely..

My autometer ultra light is reading 16 psi

my 3 bar gm map sensor is reading 13...so im not sure which to trust. i am tuned according to the map though.

Damn guys, now I have some doubts about this issue.

I put another boost gauge and the reading is still off, and my doubt is because I adjust all the way the internal wg to get more pounds, the car pulls great but the map just reads 9.2 psi and the boost gauge reads 18psi !!!!!

I think that this reading is way off.

Im afraid cause my boost cut is set at 11.3 psi, so if the map is not reading rigth, I dont want to fuck my engine.

BTW, I have connected the map sensor and boost gauge on the same source, at the small nipple that is on the y8 manifold at the back, cause the inlet for the map sensor at the tb is broken,

Maybe this is the issue ????

Your stock MAP sensor is not reading over 9.2 psi, so your boost cut is not functioning being set at 11.3psi. Some will read closer to 11.3psi than others, but yours is obviously not. Turn the boost down now before it blows!

There is usually some variance between map sensor and gauge readings, but not more than 1-2psi.

Mechanical gauge will always be a little off and will deviate more with altitude change. The MAP sensor should be more accurate. However as mentioned above, you could be saturating your stock MAP and the closer you get to its limit the less accurate it will be, so even that may be off.

Yours is stock right? Then it is behaving normally.

You have to run a bigger map sensor (and appropriately modified ecu calibration) to be able to read more than 9psi on your car. Otherwise keep it at 9psi or under.

if you're running 23 psi sometimes then id recommend a 3 bar. even if your mostly running 18 psi it gives you more options in the future and more cells for the tuner.
i run 19 psi dd on a 2.5 bar but i think its about time to kick it up a notch.

yes , stock map sensor, Im using ectune for managment.

Ill try to hook a 3 bar map sensor, I just want to run 11-12 psi

I was with the idea that oem map sensor could hold the 11 psi without problem

Ill try first using another oem map, but first Ill readjust the wg so, the boost is gonna be lower till I almost match the gauge reading acoording the map sensor.

stock map = 1.7x bar ;absolute pressue = 14.5; 14.5psi= 1 bar

1.7 X 14.5 = 24.65 - 14.5 = aproximatly 10.xx psi

keep it at 11psi or under and you'll be ok
