Default Setting engine timing.

Hey,

Im finally to the step of my swap d16y8 where im ready to set the timing. Im just waiting on a water pump and new timing belt from honda. I am completely clueless when it comes to this. Does any one know any good walk throughs to do this..

all engine components are stock.

hopefully you have the harmonic balancer off at this point if not take it to a shop and have them hit it with a air gun. take out spark plugs. move #1 cylinder to tdc. move the tensioner back and retighten the bolt to give slack. make sure that the crankshaft sprocket's mark or "up" is in the correct place and the two marks should be even with the cylinder head surface. route your belt. move the tensioner back in place to tighten the belt. turn the crank by hand a couple of times and make sure the marks all line up. there are the three on the crank pulley and one on the oil pump and harmonic balancer. make sure it is not off at all. i have heard some say it is okay. but i never run with a tooth off.
