Default D16Z6 to D16Y8 Vtec

I'm running a D16Y8 motor on a P28 D16Z6 ECU and noticed that the specs on the D16Z6, the Vtec kicks in at 4800 RPM's and the D16Y8 kicks in at 5500Rpm's. is this going to be a problem?

The y8 has a higher CR and the timing is different. Chip the p28 and run a y8 map.

You can chip it yourself. here is a good guide

Or you can ask civic4VW to do it for you. There are a few other people who can do it too.

I'm not sure where you can get the p2p map. Try here at www.xenocron.com or www.pgmfi.org.

The ignition curves are different.

So I dont know about adjusting at the dizzy

yea you can cjip it your self or you can buy a ecu from like xenon ILOVEHONDA bough town from him it worked good. yea like i said you need to change the map the map is the thing your car runs off of. it tells you car the fuel to throw and the ignition to run at different rpm. i suggest you go to PGMFI.ORG great place to start. Before you ask question im sure all of them can be answered in the text on their site. if you want to not chip and adjust the timing then get a expensive msd kit but with the prices of msd boxes chipping it like 100 cheaper plus you get fuel map you can tune with, along with vtec activation and other goodies. DATALOGGING gotta love that. anyways don't cry over my remarks,its ok everything is gonna be o...k. sorry you were offened.

alright, got the timing done. and it's running, probably not as well as it could since i haven't chipped the ECU yet. but i whooped on a mustang GT on the freeway coming home tonight. i'm hitting 105+ MPH in 3rd gear

LOL, the 4th in the 4-speed is almost identical to the 5th in the Si. 2nd and 3rd were the biggest RPM dropoffs in the history of the world.
