Default Do you think i could get an oem unmodded ecu to run this setup?

in a eg sedan

D15b7 bottom end
D15b 3 stage vtec head
0.066" cometic gasket
D16y5 intake manifold
VX EGR box
5 wire o2 conversion
190cc or 240cc depending on ecu

P07 (non calif)
or
p2n with obd2a to obd1 conversion.

I'm thinking... is this too much compression for this stock ecu?
Compression would be around 10:1

and actually i don't really need the 3rd stage... i just want 1 and 2.
Unless i come across a manual P2J

Just for the documentation.

I bought a p2j-j62 (cvt ecu... Its either 1 or 4 wire o2)
I plan on running the 3 stage head with a hx automatic manifold. This means i'll have to run a 3 wire iacv throttle body.

I have to get myself some obd2a plug for my obd1 to obd2a conversion.

Since the p2j-j62 ecu needs a tcm to operate the cvt... I'm pretty this won't throw a cel with a 5 speed setup.

what is your goal?

if its for performance, I guarantee you are doing far too much for a few extra horsepower.

I suggest scrapping your plans and dropping in a d16z6 or d16y8. it will run better, smoother, and more reliably.

you are not choosing performance if you are expecting to run on an oem untuned ecu.

also, you will have a CEL from the ecu wanting to see a tcm for a CVT tranny if its such an ecu.

He expects a stock automatic or lean burn ecu to run a 10:1 engine in 8v and low lift mode. Good luck.

a d16y7 with a d15b7 or d16z6 intake manifold would blow it out of the water and get 40+mpg if mated to a ex/si geared transmission

I'm not looking for performance, already had a d15b vitara setup in the past. I'm looking at building an efficient engine for the kick.

a D15z7 is already 9.6:1
I don't see why 0.4 more compression could be impossible to run by this ecu.

As for the Cel... i can live with a cel #70 if i don't find a workaround

a stock 1.6 engine with the head sliced for some more compression will get you more torque regardless vtec or not, and will get you more mileage.

the only real way of running that 3 stage head so it is efficient is with its own ecu or with a chipped gsr ecu with a couple relays for triggers.

look at it this way. my d16y7 with its stupid d16y8 intake manifold and no o2 sensors in a 97 dx auto coupe gets better gas mileage than my old properly running 93 del sol with a d15b7 auto that was running perfectly. del sol was lighter, and the gearing was slightly better I think, or the same.

extra torque in the midrange prevails

What is the CC on the VTEC*3 head, same as Y8?

If so go for the 5 layer OEM replacement for D16A6, 10.35:1 compression.

My D16A6/Y8 is the same compression on stock PM6. On cheap 87 I do get a light spark knock when lugging the motor below 2000 rpm.

48 mpg @ 65-67 mpg with close ratio ZC trans, will swap in Si/DX 5th or maybe Si FD and EX 5th when I rebuild the trans this winter.

Yes the casting is a P2J, so same CC as a Y8.

wont be an issue. just run the correct injectors that link up with that ecu.

i ran 11:1 on a stock ecu for years was fine. dynoed and you guessed it it still was rich.
